  • Stormy Day

    Stormy Day

Nothing really special about this composition. I was just driving around Anchorage taking random shots of random things, people and scenery. This one caught my eye because I liked how the sunlight was shining through the clouds and reflecting off of the road. Even with the warmth of the sunlight this image still feels chilly, to me. Maybe because I know that before too long this scenery will be covered in snow.

  • Ghost Forest

    Ghost Forest

The ghost forest of Portage. The ground along the shore of Turnagain Arm sank as much as 30 feet during the 1964 Alaska earthquake. The town of Portage and the surrounding forest was completely flooded by water. All that remains of the town of Portage are a caved in mechanics garage and groves of these dead trees. The trees remain standing because the have been preserved by the salt water that flooded the roots.

    Waiting to launch

Explored Eklutna lake today. Surprisingly I got here before all the tourist arrived. I literally had the place to myself. These are the canoes that are for rent for people to explore the lake. Interesting note. Eklutna lake is the water supply for Anchorage. Eklutna is a glacial fed lake.

    Crowd of trees

I was drawn to this scene because of the spruce trees. The way the sunrise was hitting the trees made them look like a crowd gathered to watch rising sun.

  • Potter Marsh Ablaze

    Potter Marsh Ablaze

Potter Marsh can have some of the best sunrises. This particular shot was taken a year ago right around Autumn. I originally worked on this picture, but had multiple issue proccessing it. The most major issue was that the colors were way too saturated right out of the camera. So anything and evertything I did to the image on intensified the saturation issue. Fast forward to a year and some months later. I was easily able get a proccess the image.

  • Matanuska Glacier

    Matanuska Glacier

This is the end of the matsu glacier. A massive trail of ice leading down from the mountains. At first glance it looks like a small pile of dirt and ice. If you zoom in on the left side of the glacier and scan until you run into people it will some perspective on the size of this little pile of ice.
