Barely saw this rose-ringed parakeet while hiking on the Kuilau ridge trailhead. At first I only saw the red beak. I was surprised when I trained my lens on what I thought was a little red bird only to see a big eye staring back at me. According to a local hawaiian this is an invasive species.
Another invasive species to Hawai'i, the Green Anole are everywhere. I especially like photographing them because of their vibrant green and their textured skin always make for a amazing shot.
Couldn't decide between the cropped version of this shot or the non cropped version. Which one do you prefer?
