A quick trip down to Potter Marsh to take advantage of what has lately been a rare sighting of blue sky

Galaxy watching us
The milky way towers over the Seward highway watching the traffic below.
This is the end of the matsu glacier. A massive trail of ice leading down from the mountains. At first glance it looks like a small pile of dirt and ice. If you zoom in on the left side of the glacier and scan until you run into people it will some perspective on the size of this little pile of ice.
Look into Portage
Looking into Portage lake on a sunny morning this last autumn.
Bird Point, AK
One of my older pictures from Bird Point, AK. I was just a little too late to catch the beluga whales coming up for air just on the other side of the log. By the time I got my camera set up they had already swam away.
Portage Lake, AK
Another shot of Portage lake during sunrise.
Lake Hood aurora
After a long night of chasing the Northern lights from Anchorage to Palmer I ended up back in Anchorage at Lake Hood around 2:00 in the morning
Long exposure of Susitna river on the way to Hatchers pass
Capture the night
I stopped at the little susitna river crossing in Hatchers Pass to take some night shots of the river with the northern lights dancing over head. There were already a couple of people there doing the same. The guy that was standing next to me was doing steel wool light trails. I'm not sure who he was or I would give him credit. It made for a very interesting picture. Thank you stranger.
This really happened
I know that some people will think that I added too much color to the sky. i actually did not add a thing. The sky was so amazing on this morning it actually made the news. A very weird morning because everything had a rose tint to it.
Other side of the tracks
There is a whole lot going on on the other side of the tracks. This was the end of the amazing sunrise that we had here in Anchorage on Tuesday. The dark reds gave way to brillant pinks. Then the pinks fade to what you see in this picture.
While you sleep
This was the beginning of a very colorful sunrise on Tuesday morning. I missed part of it because I had to take my kids to school. I was able to catch the beginning here and the end later on.
The simple beauty of an amazing Alaskan autumn sunrise. Potter's Marsh, Anchorage, Alaska
The beginning of the solar storm a month ago. Taken along the Denali Highway.
The golden colors of the tree are intensified by the rising sun. The Anchorage cemetery is vibrant with falls colors.
