Alaskan Summer Night
This image was taken at 9:30pm in south central Alaska.
While waiting for the train to show up I took advantage of the beautiful field of wildflowers. This time of the year sunrise and sunset can last a couple of hours. This photo was taken at 9:30 pm. The sun wouldn't set for another couple of hours at 11:25pm.
Coastal Classic - Alaska Railroad
I wanted to go back to shoot my first train photo from a couple of years ago. The trees have grown a little taller, blocking the train. The wildflowers aren't as numerous as before.
Little bit of summer
After our first snowfall in South central Alaska I thought it would be nice to post a picture of our recent but too short Alaskan summer
Fishing on the beach
People fishing from the beach for silver (coho) salmon. In the background is a fish proccessing plant for for fishing vessels. I actually took this photo from inside of the Seward Sealife center through double pane window about a quarter mile away.

What is left of Byron glacier in Portage, Alaska. In a little over a decade the glacier has retreated from the valley floor below to where it sits now, at the top of the mountain. Even in it's diminished state it is still a magnificient sight.
Bryon glacier located in Portage, Alaska. The ice caves located in the center of the picture look fairly small. In reality they are about as tall as a 7-10 story building. This was shot with my lens extended to 600mm
From the rocks
Another sunset shot from the rocky shores of Sitka, Alaska.
The receding Bryan glacier in Portage, Alaska.
Countdown to winter
Another beautiful sunset on Baranof Island. The fireweed starting to flower is the unofficial countdown to our first snowfall. It can snow at any time once the blooms reach the top of the freweed stem
Sitting on the rocky shores of Sitka. Watching the last light of the day givve a spectacular light show.
Sunset on Baranof island
Probably my best shot of the susnset from this weekend in Sitka. This was taken at Sandy Beach recreation area.
Beautiful sunset light surrounding Mt. Edgecumbe in Sitka, Alaska.
Asplash of color across the sky and ground. This was taken at Sandy beach rec area in Sitka, Alaska
Earlier in the morning the rain was coming down pretty hard. About mid day, when this shot was taken, the sun started peeking through the dramatic storm clouds. The family and I were lucky enough to be out on the beach to capture this dramatic image.
The salmor run setup by the Sitka Sound science center for their hatchery salmon. Currently the stream is empty because the mouth of the stream has been blocked until the science center feels that sufficient numbers are ready to spawn. There were so many salmon waiting on the other side of the fence waiting to get in.
In the grass

Last of the lupines
The last of the lupines along 20 mile river in southeast Alaska. I haven't been out taking pictures as much this summer. Taking care of my daughter takes most of my time. When I do get out to take pictures I try to make the most of my photo sessions.
Anchorage from the mudflats
While taking pictures of the sunset from the mudflats I had to turn around to take a different angle of the Anchorage skylline.
