Explored Eklutna lake today. Surprisingly I got here before all the tourist arrived. I literally had the place to myself. These are the canoes that are for rent for people to explore the lake. Interesting note. Eklutna lake is the water supply for Anchorage. Eklutna is a glacial fed lake.

This is a close up of Matanuska glacier. The spot directlyunder my camera is any where from 50 - 100 feet of ice. The dark area that looks like dirt is actually about half and inch of silt sitting on top of the glacier below.

The yearly celebration of Fur Rondy in Anchorage, Alaska. To describe Fur Rondy in a nutshell. It is a citywide winter carnival that originally started as a event where fur trappers could gather to swap/trade/sell their furs that had been caught during the winter months. Mondern day Fur Rondy has turned into more of a winter carnival that leads up to the Iditarod sled dog race in March. Here is a link to better describe the history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fur_Rendezvous_Festival

Got up very early to catch the sunrise in Seward, Alaska. The forecast called for rain tomorrow. In the past beautiful sunrises usually happen the day before. So I took a chance and got up at 4am to take the 2hour drive to Seward. Very big risk, but this time it worked in my favor.

Part of a bevy of swans. I think that they were spooked by a couple of bald eagles that were hanging out nearby.
