Took an early morning trip to see Kilauea. It is a completely different place when it is dark compared to the day time. You can see the veins of lava running through the crust inside of the crater. The glow is also unbeliveable.

While I was waiting for the lava tour boat I went down to the beach to take a few long exposures. The moon was out shining almost as bright as the sun.

Taken last December on a beach near the Kona airport. The sin was setting on my first night in Hawai'i. I failed to time the water drainning in the lava tube to the left. Instead I got what looked like a bowl full of cotton. I still liked the colors of the sunset.

Not sure what the offical name of this lava tube is. I have seen it called Pele's well. This particular lava tube goes down 10 feet or so. Then it take a right angle out to the sea. Safe to say that if you fall in you won't be getting back out so easy. The constant surging water will more than likely toss you around against the rocky wall. In other words be very careful around this hole.

Bright and beautiful end to the day at Turtle beach. With the absence of sea turtles for the season the algae has taken over the beach.
As the sun rises the fire of Kilauea keeps on buirning
Big island Hawai'i has it all. From sandy beaches to snow covered peaks of Mauna Kea. From deserts to rainforest. I would never run out of things to do here.
