  • Lumens

    Lumens

This was the most beautiful sunset shot out of the series. Unfortunately I was only able to stay here a few minutes. Behind me were multiple large stagnant pools of water. I like to call them mosquitoe hatcheries. I only had a few minutes here before I was swarmed. That will teach me to always bring the repellent.

  • In the grass

    In the grass

Finally. Fresh grass has grown along the mudflats. The green breaks up all the grey.

  • Lake at the top

    Lake at the top

Not to sure what the name of this lake is called. The water is some of the clearest water that I have ever seen. My boys and I decded to go on a hike today. This is where we ended up. A small no name lake at the end of Gold Cord trail.

  • Path in the grass

    Path in the grass

    The sunset from west Anchorage.

  • Gold mint trail

    Gold mint trail

Went on a scouting/hiking for a senior picture photoshoot that I'm supposed to do next month. The client specifically wants an outdoor Alaskan theme. They mentioned this trail specifically.

  • First Light

    First Light

The last photo in the series of Potter marsh shots. wanted to post this one because I liked how dramatically different the light is between this image and my last post.

  • Pretty in Pink

    Pretty in Pink

This was the early morning view looking out from Placer river overflow #1. Shortly after this the sunrise turned a golden color.

  • Beluga point eastern view

    Beluga point eastern view

East south east view of Turnagain Arm as seen from Beluga Point

  • Anchorage, Alaska

    Anchorage, Alaska

Sorry that this one isn't as sharp as it could have been. I shot this one by hand because I was too lazy to walk to the car and get my tripod. This is a view of downtown Anchorage, Alaska shot from the bluff of Point Woronzof.

  • Wastedg

    Wastedg

Popular spot for the teenagers to have late night beach bonfires. There were many beer bottles and trash. Of course they have to leave their mark.

  • Bed of golden mist

    Bed of golden mist

Took this the other night down at Point Woronzof. This was the actual sunset. All I have done is open the shadows and adjust the highlights. I also adjusted the white balance and removed some lens particles. Everything else is how I saw it. Beautiful

  • Away from it all

    Away from it all

The title to this photo says it all. Away from the hectic noise and constant motion of the world. Time to think. Time to breathe.

  • Transitions

    Transitions

The transition from day to night. From land to sea. from warm to cool.

  • Bird point panorama

    Bird point panorama

A wider shot of the Bird Point sunrise picture. I wasn't able to catch the Beluga whales that were just to the right of this frame. By the time I got to them they had already swam away.

  • Roadside

    Roadside

This was taken along the side of the Seward Highway. This is the view I see everytime I go out to take pictures. I never get tired of looking at the beauty of Alaska.

  • Radio Relay

    Radio Relay

From what i can tell the building to the left once was some kind of radio relay station. The antenna has fallen down and most of the equipment has been exposed to the ocean air for quiet a while.g

  • Glacier Wind

    Glacier Wind

The tug boats gather for the night to watch the setting sun.

  • Matanuska Glacier

    Matanuska Glacier

The family trip to Matsu Glacier. g

    Hillside colors

Took a trip up to Flat Top this afternoon. The last time I was here the temperatures were around 10 degrees and it was the middle of winter.

  • Taking it all in

    Taking it all in

I took one more shot of this beautiful spot. This time I took a step back to take it all in.

  • Nature's Palette

  • Alaska

    Alaska

I took this picture in honor of "Alaskan day". The day that the purchase of Alaska from Russia became offical. Happy Alaska day.

  • Out to Sea

    Out to Sea

One of my final shots for this series of twenty mile river. There isn't much to see because the tide has gone out. What is left behind are the striations marks that are left in the sand from the receding tide.

  • Turbulent Sand, Calm River

    Turbulent Sand, Calm River

Looking down river while standing on the frosted sandbar of the knik river.

  • 11:00pm

    11:00pm

This was taken just before 11:00pm. I was hoping for a crimson cloud sunset. I did not get my wish because of one cloud that got in the way. It didn't want to go along with the program.

  • Whittier Harbor

    Whittier Harbor

My day trip to Whittier. The town of Whittier is small. What you see here is half of the town. The other half is just as spectacular.

  • Symphony of colors

    Symphony of colors

Another angle of the hillside sunset. I tried to capture more color on the ground to match the colors in the sky. I just moved a few feet to the side and was able to capture the small red plant and yellow flowers.

  • Passing Through

    Passing Through

Moss growing on rocks in the middle of a raging waterfall. Kind of ironic. Moss only growing on still objects. The waterfall is anything but still. I thought that this scene was very peaceful. with the sun beating down on the little island of mossy rocks. It is hard not to feel relaxed

  • Ice Flow

    Ice Flow

At the foot of Matsu glacier are the silt covered ice flows that extends out from the base of the glacier.

    Rock collecting

Pretty much every natural beach in Alaska looks like this. In it's on way this beach is as beautiful as a sandy beach.

  • Urban nature

    Urban nature

Another shot of Bootleggers cove. Bootleggers cove is actually part of downtown Anchorgae . many of the cityscapes that you see of Anchorage are taken on the bluff above Bootleggers cove. In this picture you can see part of Anchorage just to the left of

  • Lonely and abandoned

    Lonely and abandoned

In the background is Independence mine. When it was operatioinal gold was mined. Now it's just a state park historical site. The cabin in the foreground is the "Historic Lynch cabin" Circa 1930. It sits about halfway from the independence mine to the nameless lake that is at the end of Gold Cord trail.

    Potter Marsh Sunset

It was a beautiful sunset tonight. I couldn't decide if I should or shouldn't take pictures tonight. I ended up waiting just a little bit too long. I got to this location just as the colors started to fade.

This is a photo of the Wildlife conservation center located in Portage, AK. It is one of the locations where rescued wildlife is taken. The other place being the Anchorage zoo. There are Bison, bears, moose, and other Alaskan wildlife.
