Not thinking about politicians
Lately here in the United states we are being constantly bombarded by politicians just said this and politicians just did that. When I'm out shooting these amazing photos I could care less what Donald Trump has said or what crazy thing some Democrat has done. During the whole time I was shooting I was not thinking about anything politics. Maybe more people should turn off the nightly news and go outside to experience the peace of nature. wishful thinking. I know.
Been working on some of my oldies since I haven't been able to get out much. I took this one before I bought my D810. I've always liked this one because of the sunrays coming out of the top of the clouds. All I added to the picture was a little color and adjusted the highlights and shadows. The sunrays were not added in. This is how it really looked that day.
This morning I discovered a literal example of the golden hour rule. I was actually headed home after a trip down Seward Highway hoping to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately I ran into rain and clouds. Then on my drive home the sun came out briefly. The funny thing is that this spot is less than 10 minutes away from my house.
This was taken at the end of my trip to Byron Glacier. I heard a very dull poppong noise while taking this series of shots. Couldn't get the images of me in this cave if the roof collapsed. This is a 7 photo handheld panorama of the smaller ice cave. The blue light on the left is from the bigger cave shinning through the crevices.
The yearly celebration of Fur Rondy in Anchorage, Alaska. To describe Fur Rondy in a nutshell. It is a citywide winter carnival that originally started as a event where fur trappers could gather to swap/trade/sell their furs that had been caught during the winter months. Mondern day Fur Rondy has turned into more of a winter carnival that leads up to the Iditarod sled dog race in March. Back from my Hawaiian vacation. I don't remeber Alaska being this cold and dark. To get acclimated back to Alaska weather I decided to go out to Byron Glacier and take some picutres in the ice cave. This photo was taken in one of the smaller caves. I almost had to get on my hands and knees at the entrance. Once I got inside I discovered this crystal clear football sized chunk of ice.
What look like white paving stones are very deceptive. As soon as you step on the white pieces of ice the begin to slide and shatter. underneath is a very hard sheet of ice. Even my ice grippers on my shoes did no good. Once you begin to stumble you are going to go down. As you try to regain your footing on the top ice you break through to the super slippery layer below. I would imagine I looked pretty comical. Like a character from a Saturday morning cartoon. Fortunately my camera did not suffer my fate.
