The ice is ready to walk on. With the subzero temps the ice sheet has finally frozen enough to walk on. This was taken near Twenty mile river this morning around 2:00am.
Taken at Portage lake last night. The temperatures were around -8F degrees. I came across this section of the lake where the ice had fractured and piled up on the beach. I highlighted the foreground by using my LED Coleman latern on low setting to paint the ice and the sharp angles of the snow. Unfortunately I just missed the huge explosion of the northern lights in the background. There were oranges, pinks, and greens.
A trip out to Portage lake to capture the beach ice and the auroras.
